Welcome to the “How-To-Do” Learning Skills Center!
The “How-To-Do” Learning Skills Center’s goal is to help prepare you to begin applying your new talent and
skills for near and future opportunities being presented to you.
Objective for Stained Glass Works: What you will be able to do by the end of this course:
In this “How-to-Do” Workshop Course, you will learn how to distinguish different types of glass, create your own pattern, intermediate painting techniques, full use of a kiln, create a beautiful mid-size stained glass panel, and how-to hang it, display it, or install, as fixed.
Note: For this course, you’ll also need to make an appointment with one of the instructors to discuss your level of skills, and experience, if any, in order to determine which level to place you.
At this basic level you will also be able to apply skills and experience you learn to make your own beautiful and unique custom stained glass window for personal keeps, selling or giving as gifts!
Special Note: This course requires you will need some tools and materials that are not included with this course that you will need to purchase. These are the same tools and materials that you will need personally in order to continue your work after you complete this course. (Optionally) You may purchase them through us at an affordable cost, in preparation for this course.
Your course instructor will provide you a list as he or she introduces the necessary tools and materials you will need to use for this course lesson as well as reviewing proper safety and care instructions on how to perform stained glass work and the importance of learning and understanding about other safety measures and precautions.

- Safety practices to minimize injury
- Setting up workspace
Course Content - Steps to making a window
- Transferring design to patterning paper
- Numbering and cutting patterns
- Glass cutting techniques
- Assemble the glass using lead came
- Waterproofing and cementing
- Use of support bars
- Lead foil technique using copper foil
- How to install stained glass into a frame setting
This is a 5-week course with flexible scheduling.
The amount for this course is $350.00., plus some additional costs for tools and materials.
Also, at the BFC Family - “How-To-Do” Workshops as a courtesy and at no additional cost, we will extend an extra week to you,
if needed, to complete your course successfully. “We want you to succeed!”
